About the Studio

Music West Flute Studio, is recognized as a leading, flute, instructional source for Coastal San Diego, Carmel Valley and beyond, offering unique, yet traditional classical flute instruction for all levels.

The ability to play beautifully is only part of what clients accomplish. Music West helps students tap into life-long cognitive and creative benefits by playing music. Often, what one can’t express in words, one can express though the essence of the music. Beyond the notes, music must “sing” , tell a story and for that, one needs someone to show them how.

As an established music studio since 1998, Music West Flute Studio has helped musicians of all ages and levels identify and reach their musical goals through custom flute performance, recorder and theory programs. Whether a beginner, a striving professional or you are just returning to playing the flute, you will truly benefit from the individual attention and professional guidance provided.

The Music West Flute Studio at Music West enables students to develop an appreciation of music, while gaining the skills needed to become independent musicians, no matter what their career paths may be.

Mission
That all students may come to know the joy and life long benefits learning a musical instrument brings through a traditional, classical music education, dedicated participation, and through inspired performance opportunities for the earliest note-readers to the more experienced.
Goals
Enabling students to be the best they can be, whatever their goals, to recognize their creative individuality in the world, and to experience the amazement of music as a Fine Art.
Pedagogical Pledge
As part of the lineage of the French School of Flute Playing, I am pledged to pass on the philosophies and teachings of The French School of Music and their descendants from Francois Devienne, Paris Conservatory Flute teacher from 1795, through Taffanel and Gaubert to Louis and Marcel Moyse, Geoffrey Gilbert, Sir James Galway, Carol Wincenc, and Leone Buyse. As this era of pedagogues is swiftly coming to and end, it is imperative to stave off watered down versions of this excellent tradition and pass on the essence of this teaching in its purest form as possible.
